Vinyl Films Records Goes Into The Wild

Monkeywrench/Vinyl Films Records is proud to release the limited edition vinyl version of the soundtrack to the film adaptation of Jon Krakauer’s best-selling book, Into the Wild on January 15, 2008.

“I had structured my screenplay dependant on song accompaniment to both visceral and storytelling components,” says Into the Wild writer and director Sean Penn. “It was during the shooting of the film that Eddie Vedder’s voice as singer and songwriter came to mind as the right voice for this movie. Within a month of his accepting the request, these great and moving songs poured out of him. No other voice flows, bleeds, or rejoices the young American’s land and heart so passionately as Vedder’s. His contribution not only raises the impact of the film considerably, but I believe will be an indelible collection independently. Put it in the time capsule under ‘Road companions’”.

Eddie Vedder’s Music for the Motion Picture Into the Wild was initially released digitally and in compact disc format on September 18 — debuting at #2 on the Billboard Soundtrack chart and #11 on the Billboard Top 200 and to many accolades. The vinyl version includes an exclusive, extended version of the album track “The Wolf”, a bonus 7” single with both studio and live versions of the track “No More”, a 28-page full color booklet with lyrics, and exclusive liner notes by Director Sean Penn. Extremely limited copies will be available at retail outlets on January 29th, 2008.

Harold and Maude Vinyl Release

Comments Off

haroldmaudefrontcover

The amazing soundtrack for Harold and Maude is finally coming on vinyl courtesy of Vinyl Films Records. Details below.

“What was interesting was, I’d done that project, I’d kind of put it behind me. But then, over the years it’s just taken on so much importance. It’s a milestone, and a part of people’s memories, which they love… and I love it too. Other things disappear or assume smaller proportions. Harold and Maude just gets better and means more and more. It’s the rarest thing. A film that gets better with age.”

A very special vinyl double LP version of the Almost Famous soundtrack will be released on December 15th. Here’s the details:

In conjunction with Dreamworks Films special directors cut DVD release of Cameron Crowe’s “ALMOST FAMOUS”, Classic Records is pleased to announce the release of “Untitled” – an inspired reissue of the soundtrack for the Academy Award winning film “Almost Famous”. This two LP set features bonus material by Stillwater the fictitious band featured in the film. The Stillwater tracks were mastered directly by Bernie Grundman from the 1/2″ analog masters (*due to time constraints with this production, digital sources were utilized for the other repertoire). This is a limited edition release with over 500 pieces of collectable memorabilia from the film set itself randomly distributed in the packaging. In fact, Cameron Crowe himself will personally autograph 25 LPs that will be distributed at random as well! Feeling lucky? This jack pot release is rare, attainable and EXTREMELY collectable.

Reports from the excellent Radiohead site Follow Me Around, suggest that the group maybe a part of the Vanilla Sky soundtrack. Cameron’s a big fan (who isn’t?), so this would be great. More info as soon as it breaks…
