I’m very excited to share a recent interview that I conducted with Cameron on all things music entitled “Music Matters”. We chatted about a variety of musical topics including Neil Young, Linda Ronstadt, Todd Rundgren, Led Zeppelin, the best guitarists he’s seen live and much more. Then the questions turned to the musical aspects of both Pearl Jam Twenty and We Bought A Zoo. Another in-depth interview will occur this Fall and cover more specifics around the films, but today’s interview is all about the music…
How about a double shot of Led Zeppelin liner notes for your Friday viewing pleasure? You may not know, but Cameron created two completely different set of liner notes for Led Zeppelin’s inaugural live album. The 1976 version is a brief look at a first, a Zep performance captured on film. The lengthier liner notes for 2007 remaster focus on the unique live experience of a Zeppelin concert and includes present day quotes from Jimmy Page and Robert Plant. I hope you like the both!
I’m pleased to share Cameron’s first journalism he did for the L.A. Times in 1973 covering Led Zeppelin entitled “Zeppelin Alchemy: Transmuting”. The article begins with a recap of Zep’s show at the San Diego Sports Arena, moves into a history of the band and includes many quotes from Robert Plant and a very talkative Jimmy Page. Enjoy!
I thought today would be a great day to share some Led Zeppelin. First up is a piece entitled I Love Led Zeppelin that Cameron did for UK’s The Telegraph back in 2007 to honor the Zeppelin reunion. The article surrounds a 1972 encounter that the band had with The King and is new to the Journalism section. Enjoy!
It might also be a good time to point out the Rolling Stone cover story that Cameron did in 1975, along with the small piece on Presence and the mysterious object on the cover of the LP from summer 1976. There’s also the 1973 Circus magazine article that focuses on the band’s non-stop touring.
Oh yeah, and don’t forget his liner notes for the Zeppelin box set and his introduction on the Led Zeppelin Portraits book by longtime friend Neal Preston. Whew! That should keep you busy for awhile getting your fix, but more Zeppelin articles/interviews are coming.
