Joni Mitchell – Dreamland Liner Notes

Cameron’s chronicles Joni’s Mitchell in his liner notes for her greatest hits/compilation, Dreamland, released in September 2004. It’s part biography and a part musical journey for this under appreciated artist. More liner notes will be added soon including Jackson Browne’s Running on Empty, David Bowie’s Station to Station and The Very Best of the Eagles.

In case you missed it, Josh Ritter’s Golden Age of Radio has been reissued as a Deluxe 2 Disc Edition CD. Amongst the new features is an introduction essay by Cameron. Here’s all the details:

A Masterful Follow Up

In the March 9, 1972 issue of the San Diego Door, Cameron praises the latest Yes LP, Fragile. He notes the craftsmanship of the record and (looking back now) correctly predicts that “Roundabout” will reach classic status.

Turkey Talk

Cameron conducts a lengthy interview with Wild Turkey frontman (and former Jethro Tull bassist) Glenn Cornick. This interview was published in The San Diego Door in late March, 1972. The band would only last for two albums before breaking up. Glenn did release two additional albums under the Wild Turkey name in 1996 and 2000.

Back in March, 1972, Crowe reviewed sixteen year-old country singer/songwriter Tommy Jones and his album Tommy’s Place for the San Diego Door. Tommy would later work with Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed, among others.
