Cameron had the wonderful opportunity to talk with Judy Greer for Interview magazine at the time of Elizabethtown‘s release back in late 2005. With her recent Oscar worthy turn in Alexander Payne’s The Descendants, we thought it would be a great time to share it with you. "Eyes" - Joel Bernstein - 1971
You might remember the Eyes and Ears sections of the old cameroncrowe.com site (for film and music, respectively). There’s a story behind those names and Cameron discusses them in the liner notes for Jackson Browne’s 1977 masterpiece, Running on Empty. The 205th piece in the Journalism section focuses on photographer and longtime friend Joel Bernstein. In addition to his amazing photography, Joel is best known these days as Neil Young’s official archivist. Check it out!

1975 Stampede LP
Cameron profiles and sits down for a chat with The Doobie Brothers in this August, 1975 interview for the L.A. Times. The interview focuses on guitarist Jeff “Skunk” Baxter and guitarist/vocalist Patrick Simmons, along with quotes from Pete Townshend and producer Ted Templeman. This is the incarnation of the band before singer Michael McDonald joined in 1976. While the band’s lineup has continued to change over the years, they still perform live and released an album in 2010 entitled World Gone Crazy.
Cameron shares some of his favorite concert set lists in the December 2011 issue of Filter magazine. He discusses the reasons for each inclusion along with the actual scan of the set list. Selections include Pearl Jam, Joni Mitchell, U2, Eddie Vedder, Simon and Garfunkel and My Morning Jacket. You can check out the full article in the Journalism section.

Today is legendary rocker, Tom Petty’s birthday. He is 61 years young. His history with Cameron is a long and fruitful one. In addition to the Heartbreakers Beach Party MTV special, there’s been a numerous journalism pieces and Petty’s contributions to soundtracks such as Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Jerry Maguire and Elizabethtown. Times interview with singer Ronnie Van Zandt discusses the band’s much deserved partying reputation, the success of their fifth album, One More From the Road and their very bright future.
As you know, tragedy would strike just one year later with the heart breaking plane crash that would cost Ronnie, guitarist Steve Gaines, vocalist Cassie Gaines, assistant road manager Dean Kilpatrick, pilot Walter McCreary and co-pilot William Gray their lives. But let’s focus on the good times, the music and this interview. We hope you like it.
