The amazing soundtrack for Harold and Maude is finally coming on vinyl courtesy of Vinyl Films Records. Details below.

“What was interesting was, I’d done that project, I’d kind of put it behind me. But then, over the years it’s just taken on so much importance. It’s a milestone, and a part of people’s memories, which they love… and I love it too. Other things disappear or assume smaller proportions. Harold and Maude just gets better and means more and more. It’s the rarest thing. A film that gets better with age.”

Finally.

The never-before-released soundtrack to the masterpiece Hal Ashby film.

Things have been quiet, but we have some tidbits for you today. AOL counts down their “77 Most Unforgettable Movie Songs”. Cameron’s films did extremely well with Say Anything… and Almost Famous both landing in the Top 6! Here’s what they said:

6. Peter Gabriel – “In Your Eyes” – Say Anything… (1989)

You have to respect a man who’s willing to suffer for love — and given how long he held that boombox over his head, John Cusack’s arms must have been killing him. He might have gotten the girl quicker if he’d played ‘Sledgehammer,’ though. — JP

3. Elton John – “Tiny Dancer” – Almost Famous (2000)

Give it up to Cameron Crow for making ‘Tiny Dancer’ the new ‘100 Bottles of Beer on the Wall.’ ‘Almost Famous’ was an open love letter to rock ‘n’ roll, and this scene was the little heart over the “i.” — MTC

Cameron discusses the Fast Times pedigree of Oscar winners with the San Diego Union – Tribune (the latest member of the Oscar club is now Forest Whitaker).

Saluting The Honors Class at Ridgemont High

He had just landed his first part in a movie, and as Forest Whitaker headed back to his car after the audition, the film’s director glanced out a window to see the actor “skipping and sort of jumping up in the air” as he crossed the Universal Studios lot.

Cameron recently about the out of print book with the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Fast Bucks

Grabbing a copy of “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” (the movie) on the Web is cheap enough — a couple of bucks, tops, for a used copy.

A copy of “Fast Times,” the book? Now that’s going to hurt. Anybody seeking a used volume at online auction sites is looking at $50 or so for a paperback, a cool $200 for the hardcover.

And we do mean anybody.

“I’ve had to buy it on eBay once or twice,” admits Cameron Crowe, who is only the guy who wrote the thing.
