- At first, Peter Gabriel refused to license the song “In Your Eyes”, mistakenly thinking the song was for the John Belushi biopic Wired.
- Originally, the Smithereens were asked to write the theme song for the movie. The result was a “A Girl Like You”, but producer James Brooks and Cameron thought that the lyrics revealed too much of the plot and was rejected in favor of Peter Gabriel’s “In Your Eyes”.
- Mother Love Bone’s “Chloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns” was featured in the Say Anything… (during a scene with John and Joan Cusack). It would also appear later in Singles and be included on that soundtrack.
