Press Release: For the 2006 release “Tiny Cities” from Mark Kozelek, the singer decided to re-work songs from Modest Mouse. The Vinyl edition has exclusive to it a bonus live single sided LP featuring the tracks “Trucker’s Atlas,” “Neverending Math Equation,” “Convenient Parking,” “Tiny Cities Made of Ashes,” “Four Fingered Fishermen,” “Dramamine,” “Jesus Christ Was An Only Child.” Kozelek is one of the most original and underappreciated musicians working these days, and this is not only one of the best albums of the year, it’s one of the handful of albums from our time that will still sound fresh and wise 30 years from now. –Stephen Silberman, Wired Magazine, November 1, 2005 Mark Kozelek (Red House Painters) reconvenes with the players from Ghosts of the Great Highway for this highly anticipated, second Sun Kil Moon realease. Two years ago, Mark saw Modest Mouse and sensed something original and explosive. The unorthodox songwriting of singer Isaac Brock intrigued him with its fractured, intuitive lyric style and cathartic, rapid-fire vocal delivery. Sun Kil Moon added songs like “Dramamine” to their set list and began work on what would become Tiny Cities, a full-length album of Modest Mouse covers released on Mark’s label Caldo Verde. As with his past covers of AC/DC, KISS, Simon and Garfunkel and John Denver, Mark’s aim was to bring attention to the words and sentiments – to reinterpret freely but to respect the spirit. On Tiny Cities, Mark slows down Isaac Brock’s words to let them breathe without sacrificing their idiosyncratic power. The results bear the singular, hypnotic style that could only come from Mark Kozelek. Vinyl Films Records and Sun Kil Moon are proud to announce the band’s newest release on vinyl, Tiny Cities. The album includes an alternative version of the track, “Exit Does Not Exist” plus a 7 song bonus live, solo acoustic EP that’s not to be missed!
