Peter Frampton – Winds Of Change (A&M)

There’s almost always a certain element of self-indulgence present in a solo album by an artist who has just gone solo after breaking up with his band.

Joyfully, that element is not present in Peter Frampton’s first album. Frampton, former guitarist-vocalist with Humble Pie, has succeeded in producing a low-keyed, likeable, album. Not a masterpiece mind you, but who knows . . . after a few listenings it just might be.
